About the Loan EMI Calculator

An EMI (equated monthly instalment) is the fixed amount you pay each month on a loan. Enter the loan amount, interest rate and tenure to see your monthly payment, total interest and a month-by-month repayment schedule.

Formula

EMI = P × r × (1+r)n ÷ ((1+r)n − 1), where r is the monthly rate and n the number of months.

Tips

  • A longer tenure lowers the EMI but raises total interest
  • Ask your bank whether the rate is fixed or floating (e.g. linked to KIBOR)
  • Include processing fees and insurance when comparing offers
