Whether you’re applying for engineering, computer science, business or medicine, most Pakistani universities rank applicants by a weighted aggregate. Understanding the formula helps you see where to focus your effort.
The general formula
Aggregate = (Matric % × Matric weight) + (FSc % × FSc weight) + (Test % × Test weight)
Each university sets its own weights. Some give the entry test the biggest share; others value FSc more. The weights always add up to 100%.
Example
A student has Matric 980/1,100 (89.09%), FSc 900/1,100 (81.82%) and an entry test score of 70%. With weights of 10% / 40% / 50%:
- 89.09 × 0.10 = 8.91
- 81.82 × 0.40 = 32.73
- 70.00 × 0.50 = 35.00
Aggregate = 76.64%
Use the calculator
- Open the Aggregate Calculator.
- Enter obtained and total marks for each part.
- Set the weights from your university’s admission notice.
- Read your aggregate and the step-by-step working.
Strategy tips
- Find the heaviest component. If the test carries 50%, every extra test mark matters more than an FSc mark.
- Use Part-I marks for an early estimate if final results aren’t out.
- Check special rules, such as deductions for improvement exams or equivalence formulas for O/A Levels.
- Compare with past closing merits, remembering they change each year.

Conclusion
Once you know the weights, the aggregate is simple maths. Calculate it early, set a clear target for your entry test, and confirm the official formula before applying.
