Job portals ask for ‘600×600 pixels’, Instagram prefers 1080 pixels wide and YouTube thumbnails need 1280×720. Here’s how to hit the exact size without making your photo look squashed.

How to resize an image

  1. Open Resize Image and upload your photo.
  2. Enter the width and height in pixels, or a percentage.
  3. Keep lock aspect ratio on to avoid stretching.
  4. Download the resized image.

When the shape is different

If your photo is rectangular but the form needs a square, resizing alone will stretch it. First use Crop Image with a 1:1 ratio, then resize to the exact pixels.

Common sizes

  • Instagram post: 1080 × 1080 (square) or 1080 × 1350 (portrait)
  • Facebook cover: about 1640 × 624 (desktop)
  • YouTube thumbnail: 1280 × 720
  • WhatsApp profile: square, at least 500 × 500

Platform sizes change from time to time, so check the latest recommendation if it matters.

Pixels, DPI and KB

Online forms usually care about pixels and file size, not DPI. If a size limit in KB is also given, finish with Compress Image or Compress Photo to KB.

Conclusion

Crop to the right shape, resize with the aspect ratio locked, then compress if needed. Your image will meet any requirement without looking distorted.
